This is the ultimate Sunday feast! Never cast aside the Defoe especially after a weekend of carnage! Great selections, and as a veggie, i declare their nut roast as a MUST HAVE! Perfect spot for Sunday lounging with a fair bit of eye candy to while away the time.
The Defoe is a charming pub with a genuine 'local' feel. The kind of place where you can relax, read your paper, chat with some friends and enjoy the food and drink without the need to shout.
The food menu is to a high standard with burgers, paninis and wraps as well as daily specials. Cask ales are available for the beer lovers, Japanese lager is another popular choice and the usual wines and spirits too. All are reasonably priced.
An excellent Sunday afternoon pub.

Nice friendly bar with great little garden. Food ok - standard pub food - but done well. Friendly Polish barman.
There is no other pub on church street to match it. i love this pub, profesionally run and with great bar staff, not to mention the only Cask Marque pub in the area, there ales will not be beaten. i can't praise this pub enough. I just love it
Lovely quirty pub in Church Street, easy listening music, relaxed enviroment, polite helpfull staff, with the best ales!
